With 2,38,018 new COVID-19 cases reported in one day, Indias total COVID-19 caseload increased to 3,76,18,271, with 8,891 cases of the Omicron variant, reported data from the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday.

The active cases in the country rose to 17,36,628, which is the highest figure in 230 days. The death toll has increased to 4,86,761, as 310 new deaths were reported in a day. The number of Omicron cases witnessed an 8.31% increase since Monday.

Active cases currently constitute 4.62% of the total infections. The active COVID-19 caseload increased by 80,287 cases in 24 hours. The nationwide recovery rate has come down to 94.09%… (ET Healthworld – PTI, January 18, 2022)
