A Gurugram court-ordered FIR against Dr Poonam Yadav and Dr Anurag Yadav of Shiva hospital sector 12, Gurugram on a complaint by the woman’s husband for medical negligence for leaving a cotton swab in the abdomen of a woman during the birth of her baby after a caesarean.

The woman’s husband Diwas Rai, complained that he was living here at Sikandarpur with his wife Swastika who was found pregnant in April 2020. Due to a monetary crisis, he took my wife to the government Anganwadi centre and was referred to Shiva Hospital in Sector-12. On November 16, 2020, the hospital charged Rs 30,000 and after caesarean, a baby girl was born. But, right after the delivery, his wife started having abdominal pain and swelling with red marks on her stomach. They visited the doctors at the Shiva Hospital, but the medicines did not work. Second hospital treatment also failed.

On their visit to a third hospital, doctors advised a CT-Scan of the stomach and found cotton sway like articles in her abdomen. Rai complained to the Shiva Hospital, but the hospital first ignored the findings but later admitted his wife to the hospital without Rai’s knowledge and consent, made her sign some blank forms and operated to remove the swab. On complaining to the police, they also ignored.

Later, on the court’s order, the police lodged an FIR at the Sector 14 police station, Gurugram under IPC sections 417, 336, 337, 338, 506, 509, and 34  of the Indian Penal code and said that investigation was going on.
