Consent is required for examining a patient for educational purpose

Consent of the patient must be taken before examination, even for educational purpose.

Clinical teachers and students must obtain explicit verbal consent from the patient before students take their case histories or physically examine them. They must ensure that the patient understands the primarily educational purpose of their participation (BMJ. 2001 Mar 24; 322(7288): 685–686).
