In Jaipur, 27.3 lakh children received their first dose of the Covid vaccine out of 46.5 lakh eligible children in the 15-17 age group. This was a good start as per the vaccination drive for children, But, booster doses among elderlies (60+) was low, only 20.5% have received it.

With the spike in Covid deaths in the state, the health department has issued directions to all the chief medical health officers to focus on booster doses to elderlies with comorbidities aiming to prevent mortalities among them as observed from the casualties in January till date.

There are 13,66,660 senior citizens in the state. 19,213 booster doses were administered to the elderlies on Friday, which took the cumulative doses given to senior citizens to 2.8 lakh. The official said that all the districts have been asked to send teams door-to-door to encourage elderlies to get the booster dose so that the risk of complications due to Covid can be avoided.

On the first day of booster dose vaccination, on January 10, around 34,762 senior citizens got the shot, the highest booster doses given to elderlies in a day.
