Nagpur: 5-7 people booked under stringent Act for attacking doctors

A group of five to seven unidentified persons were booked for attacking Dr Natiq Parwez at Kunal Hospital. Dr Natiq Parwez an on-duty medical officer told the relatives of a 28-year old man that the 28-year old man was brought dead, after which the angry relatives and friends attacked the doctor and ransacked the hospital.

The group of five to seven unidentified persons was booked under relevant sections along with the Maharashtra Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss to Property) Act, which was the prime demand of medicos and Indian Medical Association (IMA) in the city. Dr Shishir Shivastava of Kunal Hospital said that immediate action should be taken against the culprits under the Doctors Protection Act and that the CCTV footage of the attack incidence and all relevant proofs had already been handed over to police by the hospital authorities.

The investigating officer of the case said that arrests would be made in the next few hours, the post-mortem of the deceased person had been conducted on Friday and the body was handed over to the family members. Last rites were also performed on Friday. 

President of Nagpur branch of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Dr Sanjay Deotale demanded strict action on the attackers and such behavior for medicos was unacceptable in any condition.
