Pharma company Zydus Cadila announced that it has started supplying its COVID-19 vaccine, named ZyCoV-D, to the central government, around 6 months after the vaccine received emergency use authorization for people aged 12 and above.

The three-dose Plasmid DNA vaccine is injected intradermally using a painless PharmaJet needle-free system. Following the first dose, the next two doses are to be given on Day 28 and Day 56. The vaccine is priced at ₹ 265 per dose and ₹ 93 per dose for the applicator, excluding GST. The company will first supply the vaccine to the government and then gradually supply it to the private sector as well, based on clearance from the authorities.
