Reduce around 300 calories a day by sleeping for an extended time

A randomized trial advised young, overweight adults who slept less than six and a half hours to sleep for about eight and a half hours a night for two weeks and noted that many of the individuals who extended their sleep to a healthier length could reduce their calorie intake by an average of 270 calories a day.

The study published in JAMA Internal Medicine noted that some individuals could reduce their intake by 500 calories each day. Researchers noted that eating 270 fewer calories a day would result in a loss of 26 pounds over a period of three years, and all that by doing nothing more than just getting additional sleep.
