According to a survey conducted by the World Health Organization on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, disruptions in health services, such as vaccination programs and treatment of diseases like AIDS, have been reported in 92% of the 129 countries.

The survey was conducted in November-December last year and revealed that health services were severely impacted and there was little or no improvement from the previous survey done in early 2021, said the health agency. The WHO stated that the findings emphasize the significance of urgent action to address the challenges, recover services and decrease the impact of the pandemic.

Emergency care deteriorated, with 36% of the countries reporting disruptions in the latest survey, compared to 29% in early 2021 and 21% in the first survey conducted in 2020… (Reuters, February 8, 2022)
