With the declining number of Covid-19 cases across the country states are easing their Covid-19 restrictions to bring back normal life. 

The central government had started the vaccination drive for the third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine for healthcare and frontline workers, as well as senior citizens with co-morbidities. But Indian population kept wondering whether everyone will require a third dose to battle the pandemic.

Addressing this, NITI Aayog’s expert Dr VK Paul said that the decision regarding administering the third dose of the Covid-19 shot to all the adults would be made based on scientific needs. The Centre was observing the developments related to COVID-19 vaccination and its administration around the world. He said that the third dose vaccination would be completely based on scientific proof and India’s need. 

Though the experts said that India had passed the peak of the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, still the Union Health Ministry requested all those who are eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine to get their jabs at the earliest and urged the states and the public to be safe and maintain all the proper precautionary measures.

172 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered across the country today, while over 1.63 crore precaution doses of the vaccine have been administered yet.
