More than 70% children in 15-18 age group administered first vaccine dose: Health minister

More than 70% of the adolescents in India, aged between 15 and 18 years, have received their first COVID-19 vaccine dose thus far, said Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Sunday.

The minister also appealed to everyone in this age group who is eligible for vaccination to get their dose at the earliest. He said that young India is further strengthening the largest vaccination drive in the world. Data from the Health Ministry show that more than 1.47 crore beneficiaries in the 15 to 18 years age group have received both vaccine doses. The estimated number of beneficiaries in this age group is 7.4 crore for 2021-22.

Over 49.16 lakh vaccine doses were administered in a span of 24 hours, taking the cumulative vaccine doses administered in the country to over 172.81 crore, as per provisional reports till 7 am on February 13… (ET Healthworld – PTI, February 13, 2022)
