DCGI approves Corbevax for children aged 12 to 18 years

The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has granted Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to Biological E Limited (BE) for the use of its COVID-19 vaccine Corbevax in children aged 12 to 18 years.

The restricted emergency use approval has been granted on the basis of interim results of the ongoing phase II/III clinical trial. Corbevax is the country’s first indigenously developed receptor binding domain (RBD) protein subunit vaccine against the coronavirus. The vaccine is administered through the intramuscular route and two primary doses are given, 28 days apart from each other. The vaccine is stored at a temperature of 2 to 8 degrees Celsius and is available in 0.5 ml (single dose), 5 ml (10 doses) and 10 mL (20 doses) vials… (ET Healthworld, February 21, 2022)
