Very small blood clot risk after first dose of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine: UK study

A large study looking at rare blood clots tied to AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine noted just 1-3 cases per million, that too only after the first dose.

A study analyzed the health records of 46 million adults in England from December 2020 through March 2021 to evaluate the risk of clots in the month following vaccination with either the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine or AstraZeneca-Oxford jab, in comparison with the unvaccinated. There appeared to be no risk of major arterial and venous thrombotic events in people aged 70 years or above with either of the two vaccines. The risk of intracranial venous thrombosis (ICVT) after the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine was increased two-fold in those below 70; however, it was equal to between one and three cases per million.
