CSI 2021: 3D Echo for Evaluation of RV Function

Right ventricle (RV) has no known geometrical shape and therefore, calculation of volumes by 2D echo is fallacious. 3D echo sees the RV as it is and marks 700 endocardial points. Obtaining a good RV centric view to see the entire free wall and the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) in coronal view is crucial. A single beat 3D volume dataset is possible to acquire in most machines. 3D derived RVEF in expert hands correlates well with cardiac MRI derived RVEF.
