New Covid variant discovered in Israel

Israel′s ministry of health stated that on Wednesday that they have recorded two cases with a new variant of the coronavirus. It was a mixed strain of two sub-variants of the Omicron version of the COVID-19 virus, namely BA.1 and BA.2. The strain has been identified in the PCR tests on two passengers who arrived at Israels Ben Gurion airport.

The ministry further informed that this new variant was still unknown globally. The two people infected with this combined strain had mild symptoms of fever, headache and muscle dystrophy and no special medical response was needed. Israels pandemic response chief said that the emergence of combined variants of the coronavirus was common and there was no need to worry as of now.  (NDTV - AFP, March 17, 2022)
