A new study reported that risks of developing coronary heart disease could be anticipated using voice Analysis comprising of characteristics such as pitch and amplitude. The study included voice recordings of 108 individuals diagnosed with coronary heart disease and compared with the vocal features, such as amplitude and pitch of healthy individuals. The audio samples were analyzed using artificial intelligence algorithms. The researchers used artificial intelligence to analyze these audio samples. They derived a single biomarker score for each participant and then divided them into two groups based on whether they had a low or high biomarker score. It was observed that after a two-year follow-up period individuals with a higher biomarker score had 2.6 times higher risk of experiencing or being hospitalized for symptoms linked with coronary artery disorders, such as chest discomfort or a heart attack, and a 3.1 percent higher chance of being diagnosed with coronary artery disease during a future angiography or having a positive exercise stress test, which indicates a risk of heart disease. This voice analysis tool will be a cost-effective, simple, and non-invasive way to assess people at risk of coronary artery disease at an early stage. The findings were presented at a meeting of the American College of Cardiology and published in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings. (MedicalNewsToday April 5, 2022)
