Major corporate hospitals in the city claimed that they have between 3,000 and 6,000 vials of vaccines for the launch on the day that booster doses were made available to all people. Fearing a lack of desire in taking a booster or preventative dose, hospitals have stated that they will only restock when existing inventories are near to being depleted.

On Sunday, none of the major hospitals began the booster dose programme, though other sources said they will begin on Monday.

The official data reported around 2.32 crore people in Telangana to have completed their second dose. Among them, only 10 lakh were immediately eligible for the booster dose but the interest was very weak at the moment. Authorities stated that if people were interested to receive the booster dose many hospitals would arrange fresh stocks immediately. (ET Healthworld, April 11, 2022)
