According to recent research, people having a history of asthma or allergies might be at higher risk of developing high blood pressure and coronary heart disease.

Data on over 10,000 people with allergies were analyzed and found that the highest risk for high blood pressure was found among people with asthma aged 18 and 57 and higher risk for coronary heart disease was prevalent mostly among people between the ages of 39 and 57 who had a history of any allergic disorder.

Experts are of the view that histamines, increase blood flow into the area where an allergen is present, causing the immune system to send antibodies and therefore causing inflammation. Although inflammation is the body′s natural defense against infections, it is also a contributing component in many chronic disorders, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

Antihistamines reduce blood flow, resulting in elevated blood pressure and a faster heart rate. Steroids, which are commonly administered for asthma attacks and crises, raise blood pressure and blood sugar, both of which are major risk factors for heart disease and stroke. Furthermore, a high sugar diet, highly processed and fried foods, stress, poor sleep, a lack of exercise, and pollution may all be factors that cause chronic inflammation in the body.
