Amidst the new wave scare with several states facing a surge in Covid 19 numbers, Tamil Nadu has come across several empty vaccination centers throughout the day. Even during the mega vaccination drives, the average number of vaccinations has dropped from 1.6 lakh in February to 64,000 in April.

According to government data, 44 lakh adults have not been administered the first dose, and 1.37 crore people have not taken their second jab. Radhakrishnan J, Health secretary appealed and stressed the importance of vaccination. On Friday, the state reported a drop in fresh cases from 25 to 22 in 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the National capital is seeing a surge in their daily fresh cases and positivity rate. 27% of children among the total infected group are reported to be under institutional care. At least 14 children are hospitalized among the total of 51 Covid patients in the hospital.
