As Covid cases started to rise again, the health department has set up ten camps in Gurgaon and restarted random antigen testing in crowded places such as malls, markets, metro stations, and other places to isolate positive cases as soon as possible and check the spread of the viral infection.

On Sunday, the city recorded 157 new cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 719 and the daily positivity rate was 5.1%.

The city reported 157 new cases on Sunday, taking the active cases toll to 719. The daily positivity rate dipped to 5.1% on Sunday. Hospitalizations were still low with Covid patients over 60 years old being admitted as they had comorbid conditions.

New patients who tested positive for Covid have symptoms similar to past waves but milder, such as fever, cough, headache, body discomfort, and throat soreness. Some patients were suffering from nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The main difference was that patients are not losing their sense of taste or smell, which was one of the most common symptoms associated with the Delta variants spread.

The precautions remain the same, and treatment involves the same medications. At the moment, hospitalization rates are minimal, and patients are recovering in five days or less. But, it is important for people to lookout for flu-like symptoms and get themselves vaccinated. In schools, it is necessary for all the staff and eligible students to get vaccinated as children aged 2 to 12 are still not eligible for vaccination. (ETHealthworld, April 18, 2022)
