Today, WHO Global Centre for traditional medicines will be inaugurated by PM Modi in Jamnagar, who is on a three-day visit to Gujarat. The Ministry of Ayush and the Government of Gujarat organized a press conference on Monday to discuss the development in the field of traditional medicines at the event of Convening of the Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit and WHO Global Centre for traditional medicines (GCTM). Both the events were graced by the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Mr. Pravind Jugnauth, and the Director-General of WHO.

The GCTM seeks to set policies and standards on traditional medicines and help countries in creating a comprehensive, safe, high-quality health care system. The summit aims to bring in investment and display innovations in the field of traditional medicines in a unique attempt to form a long-lasting partnership, increase export and develop a sustainable ecosystem.

The Ministry of Ayush stated that the center aims to channel the potential of traditional medicine by integrating it with technological advancement and evidence-based research. They added that GCTM will focus on four main areas: evidence and learning, data and analytics, sustainability and equity, and innovation and technology.
