Delhi folks are awaiting clarity on the masks in public places rules brought back by Delhi Disaster Management Authority. They have brought back Rs 500 fine for not wearing a mask in public but it is not clear if it applies to lone drivers in private cars also.

However, the penalty for not wearing a mask in schools or for non-compliance with SOP by schools has not been stipulated yet. Sources said that the amount of penalty will be detailed in the new DDMA order after the old policy was withdrawn on March 31 causing a major plunge in the number of people using masks in public. CM Arvind Kejriwal informed the members in a meeting that he is keeping a close eye on the situation and there is no need to panic.

LG Anil Baijal after the meeting tweeted that the situation and experts called for testing to be increased, increase the vaccine coverage, and enforcement of Covid appropriate behavior. He also added that SOPs for prevention and management of infection should be laid down for schools and strictly followed. In case of non-compliance, an appropriate penalty should be imposed.
