Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs claimed that the report referring to the communication between the empowered group-5 of NITI Aayog and Bharat Biotech has been portrayed inaccurately. The report highlights the selective stances of query from the ministry to the vaccine producer to resolve the issue of Covid shots regarding the cancellation of Emergency Use Authorization by WHO.

The MEA source stated that it was an internal communication between MEA and Dr. VK Paul, a member of NITI Aayog which presented certain facts for consideration. However, this doesn’t signify the ministry’s stand or comments on the issue.

Earlier last week, WHO suspended the supply of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin citing the manufacturing process did not match the required standard of the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). They also added that other than GMP standards, the safety and efficacy of the vaccine were undisputable. Further addressing the situation MEA stated that the suspension of vaccine supply will not affect the travel plans of people who have taken Covaxin jabs.
