On Thursday, Moderna requested emergency use authorization from the FDA for its vaccination for children under the age of six, stating that the vaccine will be available for assessment by a Food and Drug Administration panel in June.

Moderna′s vaccination could be the first to be approved for children under the age of five in the United States. The FDA has approved Moderna′s vaccine for adults aged 18 and above. However, despite being approved for 6- to 17-year-olds in Australia, Canada, and the European Union, it has yet to be approved in the United States. Regulators in the United States have requested more safety information from the corporation.

According to Dr. Paul Burton, the company′s chief medical officer, Moderna was conducting tests to study whether another booster shot might be more efficient against original coronavirus, Beta variant, Omicron and other COVID-19 variants and provide protection. (Reuters May 2, 2022)
