As the quality of air in the Delhi-NCR region remained in the“poor” category, the sub-committee established by the Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) has strengthened measures and instructed states to check and control the quality of air by accelerating the implementation of Response Action Plan (GRAP) measures.

Following a review meeting on May 4, the sub-committee directed Delhi and NCR districts in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan to step up dust control measures, including mechanized sweeping, particularly on busy roads, enforcement of prescribed dust mitigation measures, guidelines at large construction sites, and C&D waste management.

Different measures are being made to adhere to proper emission requirements in industries, as well as actions against polluting cars, open waste dumping and burning, landfill burning, and speedy redress of complaints on the Sameer App and other social media platforms. In winters, air quality is generally in the "extremely poor" to "severe" categories while in summers dust plays a major role in deteriorating the air quality, hence GRAP measures need to be enforced throughout the year to control air quality.

Since March, the Data from the Central Pollution Control Board revealed that the capitals air quality remained in the ‘poor’ category. Hence, based on the air quality and meteorological forecasts the subcommittee has recommended states to enhance management of the air quality.
