Complainant: He disclosed my illness to my wife

Doctor: She is his wife.

Judge: You cannot disclose any information without the permission of the person even to his wife.

Lesson:  The NABH/DMAI Patients’ Charter on Patients’ rights gives the patients right to confidentiality about their medical condition.

Also, the MCI Code of Ethics Regulations requires a doctor to be discrete about patient information under Regulation 2.2
