New Delhi: PM Modi in his address at the second global Covid Virtual Summit stated that the vaccine approval process of the global health regulator needs to be streamlined to facilitate a stable and predictable supply chain. He added that in combating the rising number of cases in Delhi, a crucial role was played by India′s genomics consortium by contributing viruses and variants information to the global database and its network to the neighbouring countries.

He also noted that India has laid the foundation for the WTO centre for traditional medicine and called for a more flexible framework regarding trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights (TRIPS). India has been pressing for the waiver to ensure more equitable and global access by scaling up the vaccine production.

The second summit was commemorated to discuss new actions and guidelines against the challenges of the Covid pandemic and build a more resilient global healthcare security structure. A white house factsheet stated that India will extend its booster coverage to all eligible populations and increase the number of integrated public health and regional disease control laboratories, including bio-safety labs.
