TN Government: Sent 28 Crore Worth Of Medical Supplies to Srilanka

Amidst the ongoing economic crisis, the state health minister, Ma Subramanian stated that the southern state has sent medical supplies worth 28 crores, including 137 types of medical supplies to Sri Lanka. He stated that the first instalment consist of medical supplies worth 8 crores and had been sent on humanitarian grounds to the affected people irrespective of their Sinhalese or Tamil ancestry.

The resolution to permit the state government for sending the essential commodities was moved by the CM MK Stalin in the state assembly. The resolution urged the center to consider the request to help people in dire straits and added that the supporting hand should be provided on a Humanitarian basis. CM Stalin also added that with the power cut across the Lankan regions and reduced public transportation, the Tamils are suffering. He also emphasized his point by citing the selling price of pesticides at Jaffna estate at Rs 32,000 in comparison to the pre-economic crisis selling cost of Rs 12,00.
