Andaman and Nicobar Islands regain COVID-free status

Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands regain their COVID-free status as the only Covid positive patient who got cured and was released from the hospital on Tuesday.

Reports state that previously it was on April 30 that the archipelago′s active case count reached zero. The Union Territory reported three COVID-positive patients since May 6 and currently all have recovered from the infection with zero active cases.

The total coronavirus tally in the archipelago was 10,039. Overall, 9,910 patients have recovered from the sickness, while 129 have died. A 1.37 % positivity rate was observed among the 7.30 lakh samples, which were examined for COVID-19.

More than 6,78,927 people aged 18 had been vaccinated in the Union Territory so far. At least 23,464 persons between the ages of 15 and 18 have been immunized, with 12,092 children between the ages of 12 and 14 receiving the vaccine. So far, 22,682 persons have received the preventive dosage of COVID-19 vaccination.
