Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has given a green signal for establishing an AIIMS institute in Karnataka to boost the medical and healthcare academics in the state. Earlier, the Karnataka health minister submitted a request to start an AIIMS to develop public healthcare and medical education infrastructure.

Mr. Sudhakar, the Health Minister has also stated that a proposal for a new National Institute of Health and Neuro-science polytrauma center and PG institute has already been submitted to the Standing Finance Committee. After approval, the institute will be built at Kyalasanahalli near Hennur Main Road. The proposal was submitted in 2021 for the construction of a new medical college. However, it was later changed to the PG expertise department of NIMHANS with 538 new beds set up, costing 489 crores in a duration of three years. Sudhakar, in a letter to Mandaviya, has also requested the establishment of a University for Nursing and Allied Health Sciences.

He also advised that domicile students should be prioritized in deemed universities. The letter also echoed his thoughts on enforcing stringent norms to provide world-class food safety and standards.
