Sputnik V vaccine recipients are waiting for their turn for the precautionary jab, as there are no guidelines for the booster jab distribution for Sputnik V. Many eligible beneficiaries for the third dose are unsure of where and when can they get it. Despite the centre′s approval of Sputnik Light as a booster dose in the first week of May, the health ministry has yet to issue guidelines for hospitals to begin administering the booster dose.

All private hospitals haveutilized both Covishield and Covaxin to inoculate adult recipients, but only a few private hospitals have administered Sputnik V. The vaccine was solely available through private hospitals; no government hospitals or CVCs were offering it. Rupali Basu, managing director & CEO, Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital said “We have administered Sputnik V first dose to around 9,000 beneficiaries and second dose to over 6,500 beneficiaries. We are getting enquiries for the booster dose through calls and messages, but are awaiting specific government guidelines on the matter to respond comprehensively.”

R Venkatesh, Narayana Health′s regional director for the east, also indicated that they were awaiting government guidelines on the third dose of Sputnik, after which they would obtain the vaccine and begin vaccinating the recipients immediately. (ETHealthworld, May 20, 2022)
