Doctors at Chennais SIMS hospital used a special mobile software called DiCAST (Digital inclinometer-Co Axial Stitch Techniq) to carry out the surgical procedure of a 62-year-old British nationals total hip replacement successfully.

The patient went to SIMS hospital, complaining of acute osteoarthritis pain. Previously, doctors in the United Kingdom suggested a total hip replacement but cautioned him that the procedure would restrict his movement and make it tough for him to keep working.

When the patient visited SIMS Hospitals, he was advised to undergo "high-performance" hip replacement surgery. Dr Vijay C Bose, a senior orthopaedic surgeon at the hospital stated that robotic surgeries are precise yet too pricey. SIMS has created DiCAST (Digital Inclinometer-Co Axial Stitch Techniq), software that could be adjusted to match the needs of both the patient and the surgeon. The software program helped the surgeons to place the implant successfully thus minimizing all margins of error. These surgical procedures have proven comparable effects to robotIc hip replacement surgery, making the procedure both cost-effective and helpful to the patient.

After the surgery, the patient was able to move on crutches and seemed satisfied and happy.
