New evidence suggests poorer health and healthcare in individuals with autism

New research conducted by the University of Cambridge has suggested autistic individuals have higher chances of chronic mental and physical health conditions. They are also indicated to have lower-quality healthcare compared with others. 

The results of the study published in the journal, Molecular Autism, have significant implications for the healthcare and provision of autistic individuals. 

Other studies have shown that autistic people die at a much younger age, but a dearth of research on the health and healthcare of autistic people exists across the adult life span. A few studies have said that autistic people face significant barriers to accessing healthcare.
