According to top officials, Covid 19 cases have reached the 100 per day mark with the tally reaching 34,55,474 to date with no casualty reported in the last 24 hours. Hence, the state government asked the district administration to “Push for vaccination” for the eligible population.

The Health Department Secretary Mr. J Radhakrishnan, in a message to the district collectors and health officials, has asked to take preventive measures against the viral infection. He also added the need to ensure that mask compliance is being followed to prevent the further spread. In his appeal, he stressed that vaccination can help in maintaining the immunity levels in a community and that it is a joint effort that needs everyone’s contribution. 

Several isolated clusters have been identified in Chennai and Chengalpet. As of today, 118 students have tested positive on the VIT campus, Kilambakkam after the emergence of the cluster was reported at the campus of IIT-M and medical college near Chennai.
