Residents of NR Pura taluk of Chikkamagaluru observed a bandh, demanding the up gradation of Primary Health Centres in the village. The residents demanded that PHC be upgraded into a community health center. 

Many protestors stated that many people have died owing to the lack of facilities at the hospital. Once the district Health Officer, Dr. S.N. Umesh addressed the protestors, they withdrew the strike after setting a deadline of one week. However, they stated that they would resume the protest if their demands were not met in the promised period.
