With the spike in cases of Covid infection, the dengue virus has dealt a blow to the Hyderabadis. Seven cases of dengue have been recorded every day, while the unofficial sources have claimed an even higher number.

Experts are attributing the rain and the monsoon season as the cause of the spurt as the stagnant puddle has provided the breeding ground for mosquitoes. However, they expect the viral count to spiral over in 3-to 4 weeks. As per the State Health Department report, the city has recorded 167 cases this month, with a total of 506 cases of dengue reported this year. Adilabad, Khammam, Kothagudem, and Mahabubnagar are other cities other than Hyderabad stuck by the Dengue assault.

According to the report, 30-40% of the patients with fever symptoms are testing positive for dengue. Dr. Rahul Aggarwal, Care Hospital, Gachibowli, stated that the tally shot up a month back and is expected to double over the next few months.
