An e-Hospital Management System has been implemented in about 36 medical colleges to create a transparent and effective healthcare service delivery. The management system will ensure that the service delivery is simplified and provide an administrative service that covers the complete treatment cycle of OPD/IPD as well as integrates clinical, administrative, and billing/insurance activities.

According to the medical education department officials, the preparations to implement the management system in Uttar Pradesh is in full swing. In the first phase, the system has been implemented in nine medical colleges located in Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Jhansi, Meerut, and Agra. The medical education department has claimed that the system implementation is a step toward a paperless system and all-around Medicare services in Government, Autonomous institutions, etc.

The system developed by NIC is being effectively used along with preparations to sign an MoU after getting the approval of the Government on C-DAC for Hospital Management Information System for other 22 medical colleges. The establishment of HMIS will provide a reliable mechanism for monitoring management planning, decision making, etc. for effective and low-cost health service delivery.
