Audit has become an integral part of medical practice. It is advised that a doctor should work with colleagues to maintain the quality of care provided to patients and should regularly monitor the quality of care. 

Doctors must participate in regular and systematic medical and clinical audit. 

Doctors must be involved in honest data recording. 

Doctors must respond to the results of audit to improve their practice. A way of doing this is by undergoing additional training.

Doctors must provide constructive response to the results of reviews, assessments or appraisals of their performance.

Doctors must participate in inquiries and adverse event recognition and reporting as an attempt to reduce risk to patients.
