The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), the nation′s medication pricing watchdog, has set the retail prices for 84 prescription formulations, including those used to treat diabetes, headache, high blood pressure, and drugs used for lowering elevated cholesterol and triglycerides levels.

The authority has set the retail prices of the pharmaceuticals in accordance with the authority granted by the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, the regulator stated in a notification. A single Voglibose and (SR) Metformin Hydrochloride pill will cost Rs 10.47, excluding GST, according to the rule. The cost of paracetamol and caffeine per tablet has also been set at Rs 2.88. Additionally, the cost of a single capsule of rosuvastatin, aspirin, and clopidogrel has been set at Rs 13.91.

The revised ceiling price for liquid medical oxygen and oxygen inhalation (medical gas) has been extended till September 30 of this year by the NPPA in another notification.

NPPA monitors the fixing/revising the pricing of bulk drugs and formulations under control and enforces the costs and accessibility of medications across the nation. In order to maintain low drug prices, it also keeps an eye on their costs. (Dailypioneer.com, Jul 4, 2022)
