On Thursday, the National Health Authority (NHA) announced the successful inclusion of over one lakh government and commercial health care institutions in the Health Facility Registry of its flagship initiative, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). "ABDM is the government′s flagship initiative, which is being implemented by the National Health Authority" (NHA). Also, as per the organization, it includes both public and private health facilities such as hospitals, clinics, diagnostic laboratories, and imaging centers.

According to the NHA, the goal of ABDM is to provide a unified online platform that will facilitate interoperability across the digital healthcare ecosystem. Dr. R.S. Sharma, the CEO of NHA, stated that ABDM has created building blocks and interoperable APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) to provide a seamless digital healthcare experience for all stakeholders, including health facilities, patients, and healthcare professionals.

He also added that patients can easily search the ABDM network for registered facilities across different systems of medicine like modern medicine (allopathic), Ayurveda, Dentistry, Homeopathy, Physiotherapy, Unani, Siddha, or Sowa Rigpa. Similarly, the unified online platform has ABHA numbers for patients and a Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR) for professionals like doctors, nurses, and paramedics, making quality healthcare accessible and affordable for all. The NHA also claimed that 97% of the verified facilities belong to the government sector, out of which UP, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Assam have the highest number of verified health facilities.
