According to a report on the worldwide Covid vaccination facility supported by the World Health Organization, a significant decrease was observed in the demand for the Serum Institute of India′s Covishield.

Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, chief scientist at the WHO said that “Covishield is the only India-made vaccine which is part of the Covax facility. The low demand was because of the lack of supplies of Covishield anticipated for these nations in 2021.” Covid vaccine exports from India were halted at the start of the pandemic′s second wave last year, but health minister Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya announced the resumption of vaccination shipments to the Covax program in September 2021.

The report from Covax, WHO′s global vaccine supply initiative, reveals that Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna, and J&J vaccines are the most popular choices currently in most nations. (ETHealthWorld, July 12, 2022)
