A team of doctors from the office of the Mohali civil surgeon inspected several health centers in Mohali and found a critical shortage of medicines of up to 40%, which forced people to purchase even basic medications from private medical stores. They also noticed that the services provided to patients were improper.

Recently, a team led by assistant civil surgeon (ACS) Dr. Renu Singh and district family welfare program officer (DFPO) Dr. Nidhi inspected many facilities at health and wellness centres (HWC) throughout the district and observed that only 40 of the 66 prescribed medications were readily available, the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) register were incomplete, and Asha workers were failing to properly record the distribution of family planning materials. They also noticed discrepancies in maintaining birth and death records at PHC.

After these observations came to notice, all Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANMs) were instructed to properly maintain records as per the directions and notified that strict actions would be taken against such inconsistencies. (Times of India, July 14, 2022)
