A recent study published in the Journal of Scientific Reports stated that early detection was essential to prevent and cure debilitating ailments including Alzheimers disease, schizophrenia, and autism.

Advanced computer software created by a group of seven scientists at Georgia State University could sift through numerous brains imaging data and uncover surprising patterns associated with mental health conditions. The brain imaging data were generated using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans, which measure dynamic brain activity by detecting minute fluctuations in blood flow.

The Artificial Intelligence models were first trained on a dataset of more than 10,000 individuals, where they were introduced to the foundations of fMRI imaging and brain activity. The researchers then employed multi-site data sets of over 1200 individuals, including those with Alzheimers disease, schizophrenia, and an autistic spectrum illness.

By analyzing online behaviour, the computer can begin to predict future behaviour and likes and dislikes. Even more impressively, the computer software identified the precise "moment" when the brain imaging data most strongly showed a connection to the pertinent mental condition. To make these findings therapeutically useful, they must be applied prior to the onset of a disorder.
