The Union Health Ministry is all set to launch the new initiative- ‘Heal in India’ and ‘Heal by India’ which aims to boost the medical tourism sector in India. The new portal is likely to be announced on August 15th by the prime minister. The portal, developed under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, will have a repository of healthcare professionals, and hospital services to help foreign patients seeking medical help in India. The portal will also have information about Ayurveda doctors for those who are looking for a remedy through traditional medicine. The portal will include the list of hospitals that provides the medical services sought by the patient, including the details about the treatment packages.

The government’s immediate focus is to push medical tourism using the one-stop technology-heavy portal ‘Heal in India.’ On the other hand, the ‘Heal by India’ project is designed to encourage Indian healthcare workers to go abroad and treat patients. A senior health official stated that India is the pharmacy of the world. The new initiative will aim to upgrade India as the medical hub of the world.

He stated that the government is planning to use these initiatives to facilitate medical help for overseas patients by giving them a supporting hand. He further added that the portals will provide visa support, language support, and hospital support at any given point in time.
