Following the Covid-19 vaccination drive′s effective implementation through the Co-Win portal, the health ministry of Bengal has decided to register and carry out other routine immunization campaigns in accordance with the same pattern. The immunization campaign will begin in Bengal′s Howrah and Murshidabad districts as a pilot effort before expanding to other districts. The deployment, however, has not been given a specific date.

Currently, as part of the national immunization program, pregnant women around the nation are also receiving vaccines like tetanus toxoid. This routine immunization will be registered via Co-Win, just like the Covid shot.

According to sources at Swasthya Bhawan, these two districts would serve as the starting point for training medical personnel involved in the routine immunization program. They will receive instructions on how to register and upload data using the portal. Infants and kids may receive the BCG, polio, pentavalent, rotavirus, hepatitis B, MR (measles, rubella), and JE vaccinations. The majority of these immunizations also require a booster dose.

According to a health department official, routine immunizations will be administered following registration on the portal; as a result, parents will also receive reminders for booster shots at the mobile numbers they have provided. This will help to ensure that kids receive their booster shots on schedule. Newborns receive several vaccinations just hours after birth. According to health officials, using the portal will simplify locating newborns who need to receive doses of other vaccines because their names are listed on the portal, which will decrease the likelihood that kids would miss doses of other vaccines.
