Government OPDs in UP to test 5% patients for TB

The Uttar Pradesh state health and family welfare department have planned to step up testing for tuberculosis from India by 2025.tuberculosis. This is a step taken to achieve the central government’s commitment to eradicate 

Representatives of the TB control program at the directorate of health and family welfare, UP, said that numerous steps have been taken to ensure that cases in the community are screened.

Dr. Shailendra Bhatnagar, the joint director, said, “Among important steps taken, the department has ordered that 5% of the patients visiting OPDs of government hospitals should be checked for the disease.” He said that due to a lack of knowledge of the proper symptoms of TB, numerous suspected patients were being reported as general patients. He further stated that district CMOs had been instructed to conduct tests and send monthly reports to the headquarters. (Times of India, Aug 10, 2022)
