A video shared by Mr. Dhananjay Mahadik, a Rajya Sabha MP, shows a doctor saving a patient’s life who suffered a cardiac arrest in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur is going viral. According to two people, the video shows the patient having a cardiac arrest during a routine check-up.

Dr. Arjun Adnaik is seen to have quickly rushed to aid and thumped on the patient’s chest a few times, saving the patient’s life with his timely intervention. Dr. Arjun Adnaik is one of the well-known cardiologists from Kolhapur. Mr. Mahadik twitted as he uploaded the video, "I applaud such honorable and virtuous heroes," Mahadik wrote as he tweeted the video.

Another citizen of Twitter commented that the basics of life-saving techniques and first aid methods should be included in schools as it is a matter of seconds. Another user wrote that the patient was lucky to be sitting in front of a doctor and that too, a cardiologist. However, there were a few people who expressed their doubts about the procedure. Dr. Shariq Shamim, an interventional cardiologist living in the US, posted, "I am sorry, but these kinds of chest thumps don’t do anything. It’s not CPR. And it has nothing to do with a person waking up. "

Another Twitter user added that the patient had a 14-year-old pacemaker that was due for a change. By some coincidence, it stopped working in front of a doctor during routine check-ups, which was just activated by the doctor’s thumping as shown in the video.
