Infectious diseases make the major burden of death in developing nations, with diarrhea being the second leading killer of under-five children and a prominent public health problem in developing countries.

A recent study explored the knowledge level of mothers of under-five children regarding prevention and home care management of diarrhea and developed educational intervention to provide them with adequate management information. The study also explored the association between the knowledge level of mothers regarding prevention and homecare management of diarrhea and selected socio-demographic variables. The study included 80 samples and analyzed them.

72.5% of mothers showed average, while 6.25% of mothers showed poor knowledge regarding prevention and homecare management of diarrhea. It also found a statistically significant association between the knowledge of mothers and their educational status.

These findings revealed an unsatisfactory knowledge level of mothers about the prevention and home care management of under-five diarrheal diseases. Thus, planning and implementing health education, dissemination of information, and community conversation are warranted.
