On Saturday evening, the swine flu report pegged the number of cases in the district of Ludhiana at 28. The last time the number exceeded this figure was in 2019 when 86 cases were reported. The health department has started working on managing the spread of disease with the number of cases and deaths reaching a three-year high in the city.

The report issued by the state health department suggested that 51 cases from other districts were reported in Ludhiana hospitals. As of Saturday evening, seven people had died of swine flu in the city. The report also showed that only 3 new cases of swine flu were reported from the Ludhiana district, whereas 4 other cases were from the other districts on Saturday. Dr. Hatinder Kaur stated that arrangements have been made to diagnose and manage patients. She assured us that there was sufficient stock of Tamiflu and that beds had been kept for such patients at the hospital.

Dr. Clarence Samuel, CMCH, stated that one of the major reasons for the increasing number of swine flu cases this year was that in the last few years the focus was on COVID testing.
