International recommendations for care are not always implemented at the local level. Evidence on the optimal ways of identifying and treating depression in people with diabetes within the local context is still lacking. International collaborative research on diabetes and depression can find answers to these issues. INTERPRET-DD is investigating these issues in 20 countries across the globe.
