The present study evaluated the effect of Pregabalin on fasciculation and myalgia after using succinylcholine.

This randomized, double-blind prospective study included 100 patients aged 20 to 60 years who were randomized to receive either Pregabalin (300 mg) or placebo (in capsule form, placed in similar containers).

The study found-

  • Lower mean pain score in the pregabalin group than the placebo group.
  •  A marked difference between the two groups in the frequency of fasciculation.
  • Lower Mean fasciculation severity in the pregabalin group than in the placebo group.
  • A marked difference in the mean fasciculation severity between the two groups.

Thus, this study shows that Pregabalin (300mg) can effectively reduce postoperative fasciculation and myalgia in patients treated with succinylcholine.
